Activity Analysis- Putting on my Glasses
When I wake up in the morning, I put on my glasses so I can see. When I pick my glasses up from my bedstand, my elbow starts in an extended position. Then, as I bring my glasses to my face, my elbow moves into flexion. Motion of extension to flexion at the elbow occurs in the sagital plane of movement about the frontal axis. The osteokinematics of the elbow during this action are extension to flexion in a open kinematic chain. In terms of arthrokinematics, the distal end of the humerus is the convex segment and the concave proximal end of the ulna which rolls anteriorly and glides along the distal end of the humerus anteriorly. The prime mover during elbow flexion is Brachialis with assistance from Biceps Brachii and Brachioradialis, these muscles perform a concencentric contraction during this motion.
