Innovation for Craig
For our last project in Neuro Aspects, we were given a scenario and 3 objects to create an assistive device or intervention for our client in the scenario. My client's name is Craig, a young, first generation American man whose family comes from Korea. He is married to Nari, who is a full time receptionist at a doctor's office and Craig recently opened a music store a year and a half ago. They are close to their family and hoped to start a family of their own once the music shop was financially stable. Craig is being seen because he fell off of a ladder and suffered a complete C7 spine cord injury. This means that his C7-8 spinal root nerve was severed during his injury. This typically results in tetraplegia, meaning he will have paralysis of his trunk and all four limbs. He will have full functioning of neck, breath on his own, full upper extremity mobility in the shoulder, ability to flex and extend his elbow, ability to extend his wrists, and have moderate grasp.
